Leave me alone...I hate you!

Those words echoed through the dragoon's mind in an endless spiral. There were the voices of others as well, the cries of summoners as fire raged onward and Cecil begging him to spare the child the most distinct voice belonged to. Like waves their voices crashed in, faded away into momentary silence only to violently flow back in again. He could still smell the smoke even now after the signet had done what it set out to do. Fire tinted his vision still as he breathed in and out of consciousness.

How long had he been there? At this point he almost didn't care, he ached too much to move. Jagged rock desperately tore at him through his worn armor thanks to the titan the small child had summoned. His head throbbed viciously and he was grateful for his helmet shielding his eyes, he could feel himself bathing in the warmth of the afternoon sun overhead. Last he wanted was a violent headache from being too sore to cover his eyes from the sunlight.

He wanted to get up and move, that was for certain. Every time he tried to though, something ached too much, something angrily pulsated or he was too tired to care. There was slight panic he realized, when he noticed his legs ached more than anything else. How was he to jump now? And for how long would he have to stay down? The blonde fervently hoped to himself that it wouldn't be for long.

In an attempt to move in a comfier position, he squirmed slightly, groaning quietly in pain as a few surrounding boulders sharply dug into him. Eventually, he managed to squeeze into a spot that, given his surroundings, was slightly more comfortable. This spot was more forgiving to the contours of his body and his back cracked a few times, just what he needed right now.

Now he wasn't entirely certain but he could have sworn he heard the footsteps of someone else nearby. From the sounds of things, it must have been another knight as he was clearly clad in armor. Someone from Baron? Perhaps, though Kain wasn't entirely convinced. Desperately he tried to sit up only to stumble onto his back. Instead he forced his eyes open and adjusted his helmet, tilting his neck upwards to catch a glimpse of a rather tall, dark figure approaching him.

Probably not the most promising of sights to wake up to.

Where is my spear?!
Still unable to move much, he frantically reached around himself like a turtle on his back, in a vain attempt to find it. Instead though, he noticed his vision blacken and once again, he slipped into unconsciousness. Did he hear the other's voice just now? It didn't matter anymore, he no longer had time to think.
